Here are some links that I found useful during my travels in Japan. I hope some of these websites will be useful during your adventures as well. I will update this list as I find new links. If you have suggestions, head on over to the About & Contact page and send me a message! Links marked with 漢字 are for those who can read or understand kanji.

Train Schedules:

You will need to know the name of your starting and ending train station in order to use this tool properly. It is not very good at guessing if you misspell things, so be sure to find out the correct spelling in romaji of any stations you will be traveling to.

Japanese version of the same website. A little more useful if you can read Japanese.

Fairly useful website, although not exhaustive in terms of travel destinations within Japan.

http://www.jtb.co.jp/kokunai/ 漢字

The JTB website for domestic travel in Japan. It is extremely helpful if you can read Japanese, as it has information on numerous destinations within Japan.

Japan Rail Pass Information:

Two VERY important points you must remember if you want to buy a Japan Rail Pass. 1) Your visa MUST say TEMPORARY VISITOR on it. If you are in Japan on any other visa, you cannot use the Japan Rail Pass. 2) You MUST buy the pass IN YOUR HOME COUNTRY. The Japan Rail Pass CANNOT be purchased in Japan.
